Chicago Summer Events: August 2022

There’s still time to take part in Chicago’s cultural, musical, neighborhood, and food-focused street festivals this summer! Air & Water Show

The annual Air & Water show returns to Chicago on August 21st + 22nd. This two-date event is back in full-force as it was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic then scaled down last year to a one-day hour long event. This year’s event returns with both civil and military pilots performing aerobatics, free fall demonstrations, and marine and airborne rescue exercises side by side. Be sure to get there early to get the best view! 

Sundays on State 

Sundays on State returns this summer from select dates at Chicago’s iconic street, State Street. Named ‘Best New Event in 2021’ by Time Out Chicago, this award-winning event invites every Chicago community to join this free, interactive event with art, culture, food, drinks, and shopping! Lincoln Park 90’s Block Party

Enjoy the iconic Lincoln Park Zoo after hours at this (18+) summer event! Dress in your favorite 90’s attire and take advantage of no kids or crowds, just a great time with drinks, food, DJ performing 90’s music + your favorite lawn games (giant jenga, cornhole, foosball, etc.). Tickets purchased will go towards keeping the Zoo free and open to all. Purchase your tickets here. 

Neighborhood Festivals 

If you’re looking for food, drinks, live music and a great time, then August is the perfect time to experience the upcoming neighborhood festivals in Chicago. Each neighborhood is hosting their special event on select dates. This month includes:

• Taste of Greektown (Greektown)
• Sangria Festival (Humboldt Park)
• Glenwood Ave Art Fest (Rogers Park)
• Northalsted Market Days (North Halsted) 
• Ribfest Chicago (North Center).
