When you think of the holidays, what comes to mind? For most of us, we think of gingerbread cookies, hot chocolate and snow. But more than anything, this is the season of giving back. This year, TAS Gives Back and The Apartment Source Chicago held our second annual Toys For Tots Toy Drive.\u00a0 Once again, our agents, employees, clients and neighbors exceeded our expectations with an overwhelming number of toys donated. The Marines made it a point to let us know how impressed they were with the level of desirability of the toys our donors supplied.<\/p>\n
Toys for Tots\u2120 started in 1947 by Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks. Eventually, the effort was picked up and established as a charity by the Marine Corps. Although it’s based in America, the program extends to kids in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Every year, the Marines distribute an average of 18 million toys.<\/p>\n
